Delhi-NCR is once again reeling under intense summer conditions as scorching heat has made a strong comeback across the region. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), residents will continue to experience extreme temperatures, hot winds, and dusty weather conditions at least until Friday.
The entire National Capital Region, including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, is witnessing a sharp rise in daytime temperatures. The blazing sun during the afternoon hours is making outdoor movement difficult, while hot winds are adding to the discomfort. In several areas, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 44–45 degrees Celsius, creating near heatwave-like conditions.
Meteorologists have attributed this sudden spike in temperature to dry and hot winds blowing in from western Rajasthan and adjoining northwestern regions. These winds are pushing the mercury higher and reducing humidity levels, which further intensifies the feeling of heat. As a result, the weather is becoming increasingly harsh during the day.
The IMD has also warned of dust storms and strong winds during the evening hours. Wind speeds may reach around 30–40 km per hour in some areas, leading to reduced visibility and sudden dusty conditions. Commuters and pedestrians may face difficulties due to blowing dust and gusty winds, especially during peak hours.
Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions, particularly during the afternoon when heat intensity is at its peak. Citizens are being urged to avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 12 pm and 4 pm, stay hydrated, and wear light and breathable clothing. Special care is recommended for children, elderly individuals, and those with existing health conditions.
Health experts have also cautioned about the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures. People have been advised to increase fluid intake and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
According to weather forecasts, the intense heat conditions are likely to persist through the week. Although temporary relief may occur due to occasional gusty winds, no significant drop in temperature is expected immediately.
Overall, Delhi-NCR continues to remain under the grip of severe summer heat, and residents are advised to remain alert and take all necessary precautions until weather conditions improve.
