Weather conditions are expected to worsen across several parts of India as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds in multiple states over the next few days. The sudden change in weather is being linked to an active western disturbance along with moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
According to the latest advisory, states including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience unstable weather conditions. The IMD has warned that wind speeds may range between 40 and 60 kmph in some areas, accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
In Delhi-NCR, the weather department has issued a yellow alert, forecasting rain, lightning, and strong winds. The changing weather pattern is expected to bring temporary relief from the intense summer heat that has affected the region in recent days. However, officials have urged residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid staying in open spaces during lightning activity.
Hill states such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to witness rain and hailstorms in isolated locations. Authorities have warned about possible landslides and road blockages in vulnerable mountainous areas. Tourists and local residents have been advised to stay updated with weather forecasts before travelling.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh may witness dust storms along with scattered rainfall. Farmers in several states have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops from adverse weather conditions.
Eastern states including Bihar and Jharkhand are also on alert due to the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes. Local administrations have been instructed to monitor vulnerable regions and ensure emergency response systems remain active.
The IMD has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions and stay away from trees, electric poles, and weak structures during thunderstorms. Citizens have also been advised to follow official weather updates and safety instructions issued by local authorities.
Experts believe that fluctuating weather patterns may continue over the coming days due to changing atmospheric conditions. As a result, several regions across the country could witness sudden spells of rain and storms, leading to temporary disruptions in transportation and daily activities.
